The hidden object scenes were not too easy, but not particularly challenging -- except for some of the item listings being misleading (due to translations, I suppose). One listing, though, I found particularly annoying. I try to complete the hidden object scenes without any misclicks if possible, and this one had 'Flask' listed in a laboratory HOS -- the table had many flasks! Grr. However, I particularly liked the morphing objects in the scenes. I didn't experience any graphic glitches during my playthrough. Voiceovers were well done and the the music was fine. However, I should point out that I'm happy with music as long as it doesn't distract or annoy me enough to turn it off. This music fit well into the background for me. The puzzles were of various difficulty, but all were somewhat on the easy side. Two main cons I found with this game -- first, it is somewhat short, and the second is the story. Besides the introduction, the occasional cutscene and a bit towards the end, there is very little story. The premise was interesting, as I progressed through the different locations, I kept looking for things to find that would answer some questions about the main character's background or heighten the mystery about her mentor's death -- old films, pictures or letters, a tale from one of the characters interacted with ... something! No real suspense or tension where I was eager to press on to find out what happens. No real explanations really as to why certain, um, things were found at the residence. There was certainly enough space to include more elements -- the locations had plenty of places where more content could have been added to great effect, and increase gameplay time. In fact I was somewhat surprised at the relatively few things one had to do in each scene. Summary: I wanted to like this game -- it's obvious alot of work went into the development, and for a newer developer (Brave Giant Studio) it's a commendable effort. However, in my opinion, the lacklustre story presentation offsets the technical and artistic strengths to the extent that I cannot bring myself to recommend this game. If they come out with a sequel, I'll certainly look at it -- but only if I could try a demo first and see if the story will draw me in before I made a purchase.Features not listed in the game description here:- Two levels of difficulty: Casual and Expert.- Different types of collectibles- Morphing objects in the hidden object scenes.- Travel Map- Bonuses - Bonus Game, wallpapers, music, replayable cutscenes, hidden object scenes, and puzzles.. finished this game in a couple hours. good for killing time..otherwise, way too easy. map literally tells you where you need to go for the next puzzle.. This is an earlier release from Artifex and it unfortunately does show. I'll put my hand up to be a spell and/or grammar checker for any AM games if you'd like as there is too many easy typos to find, easier than identifying the plot in this game. On the achievements (which I love in any game on Steam), I really have an issue with a reward being given for using a hint 40 times in a game. I finished the game with not one hint yet I'll need to go back over the game to earn the 'finish the tutorial' hint and the 'used 40 hints' achievement. The Hidden Object games make it wayyyy too easy for players to find a way out these days and people really should get a challenge out of a game or why bother. For those of us who grew up with Jane Jensen's games will know what I mean. Anyways, I put this game in context: it's a very rough early AM game and there have been many more success stories that have come with more recent experiences. The positive in the game are the hidden object scenes are good, beyond that it's pretty standard fare. 5/10. I'd give this 3.5 or 4 out of 5. It's very simple, suitable for children (although it might be a bit too scary for the littlest ones), but the puzzles can still be satisfying for an adult who is looking for 3 bucks worth of entertainment. Getting 100% achievements can be a tricky challenge, but all of the achievements are timed and some of the failure conditions are a little too picky for my liking. The story is pretty threadbare and not really worth mentioning. I wouldn't pay more than 3 bucks but if you want to spend a coffee's worth of pocket change it's a decent couple hours of entertainment.. Demon Hunter: Chronicles from Beyond is a HOG published by Artifex Mundi. The Graphics are well drawn, the Sound... well, decided to play it without after a while. The Storyidea itself is good, but there is only little Story while playing the Game, with only few Interactions with other Characters and some logical Flaws in the Game. The HO-Scenes are solvable, but sadly have some Issues with the German Translation. The Game also has some Mini Games and 4 different Collectibles. Some of the Achievements can not really be done in the first Try without a Guide, and since there is only Autosave you have to replay the whole Game to this Point again. It is not really a bad Game, but the Potential the Story has was not used. If there was a neutral Option i would choose this.If you like HOGs and you get it with a discount i can recommend it, but it is not my favorite Hidden Object Game.. An all around unremarkable game. Story doesn't really go anywhere. The few characters you interact with feel extremely generic. The hidden object scenes and the puzzles are ok, albeit a good amount of them is recycled from other games. From a game called Demon Hunter I would expect some demon hunting or something, but you are really just running around combining objects to get to the next location with very little story to motivate it or provide context. Not a horrible game, just rather lackluster overall.. Clear graphics in HO moments, it was not too bad to try and look for items. Graphics were good every where else too and story was ok. There was much going back and fourth to places you all ready were so that was little messy.. I actually had quite a lot of fun playing this game! Admittably, the logic in places is . . dreamlike at best, nonsensical at worst, and the storyline could have used a bit more polishing. Overally, a decent HOG, and if you like more solid plot, wait until this game goes on sale.. I don't know why this has a mixed review. I actually enjoyed this one. It's a HOG. It's not the best one every made. But I'd say buy it. If you look at the score and your leary of buying, then get it on sale.. I'm not sure why this game is getting more mixed reviews compared to other similar hidden object games. It is not the greatest example of the genre but it provided everything I was expecting. The art work is good and there are simple enjoyable puzzles. The story is okay but it did get some bonus points in my mind though by summoning demons through a rip-off star gate. So there are safer bets if you are wanting to play a hidden object game but this one is still worth a play in my opinion. Creating dialogues in Irony Curtain: Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love is a game full of different characters talking to each other. In fact, some puzzles can be solved only by choosing the right dialogue option. That’s why in today’s episode of Behind the Irony Curtain we’d like to tell you more about the process of creating dialogues in our game. Writing dialogues is just the beginning of the process. There are over 5471 lines of text in Irony Curtain and every one of them needs to be properly inserted into the game, to make sure all characters say exactly what Game Designer wants, in the exact time and place. Here’s how it looks in Irony Curtain: 1. Every game character usually has more than one dialogue line. One of the ways to operate it is to use logical TRUE/FALSE flags. These flags helps us determine the state of knowledge of a specific character or whether an event of which the character speaks has already taken place. 2. Each dialogue is built in the editor as a separate “tree” consisting of successive “nodes” connected with each other by lines defining the order in which the dialogue of the character appears. 3. To be honest, “writing” dialogues is just filling the form fields. It looks more or less like this: Create a new dialogue in the editor and give it a name. Then inform Level Designer about the circumstances in which it should be launched (eg. when Evans checks on the Prisoner); Create the first Node (a red dot on the editor screen) and enter the necessary information (into the form on the right side of the screen): Who is talking The Dialogue text (or several dialogues if they should be drawn) (Optional) The Dialogue text when repeating the talk (Optional) If the dialogue happens not on the location but on zoom – whose head and on which side should it be displayed (Optional) Text display time (it’s useful when testing the game without recorded Voice Overs which determine the text display time in the finished game) Where the text should appear on the screen (e.g. over the character or over the radio speaker) (Optional) Actions to be made before or after the dialogue (e.g. acquiring an item or activating a logic flag “character X already knows about Y") Create another dialogue node and fill it in Connect the first node with the second one Rinse & Repeat ;)4. After creating the entire “tree” for all the dialogues we generate so-called “keys”. Keys consist of the location number, dialogue name, text position in the tree and the first letter specifying the character. 5. Thanks to this we can assign a specific Key to a Node, and not just the text. All texts with Keys can be saved to a shared Excel sheet with different languages. As a result, the different language versions of the game have the appropriate dialogues. That is all in this episode of Behind the Irony Curtain. We hope you enjoyed it and don't forget to add Irony Curtain to wishlist!https://store.steampowered.com/app/866190/Irony_Curtain_From_Matryoshka_with_Love.
